Student-Athlete Learning Support and Admission Scheme (學生運動員學習支援及入學計劃 )

We are pleased to inform you that the University Grants Committee (UGC) has launched the Student-Athlete Learning Support and Admission Scheme (SALSA Scheme) to support outstanding athletes who aspire to pursue dual-track career developments in the eight UGC-funded universities in the 2022/23 to 2024/25 triennium, with a commitment of up to $100 million for allocation among the eight UGC-funded universities.

The SALSA Scheme will facilitate the admission of outstanding Hong Kong athletes and provide support to them at UGC-funded universities as follows:

• Admission: The UGC-funded universities will introduce direct admission schemes or streamline existing admission channels targeted for prospective students with remarkable achievements in sports; and
• Learning support: The UGC-funded universities will offer personalised support to student-athletes at central and individual levels, such as the appointment of Student-Athlete Support Coordinators for one-stop guidance and support from admission to graduation, as well as additional personal teaching assistants to enhance academic support for student-athletes at the individual level.

The summary of the admission schemes from eight UGC-funded universities are listed out at ANNEX 1 for your information. In addition, Chinese University Hong Kong will organise an online admission talk for elite athletes on 9 March, 2022. The details are set out at ANNEX 2. Hong Kong University (HKU) will also organise a talk on 14 March, 2022. Details will be announced by HKU in due course.

為進一步加強支援香港傑出學生運動員，大學教育資助委員會（教資會）推出「學生運動員學習支援及入學計劃 」（下稱學生運動員計劃），並就此在 2022/23 至 2024/25 三年期預留最多一億元撥款予八所教資會資助大學，支持有意作雙軌發展的傑出運動員。

建基於過去數年在香港體育學院與教資會資助大學所簽署的合作備忘錄下取得的成果，學生運動員計劃為香港傑出運動員入讀教資會資助大學提供便利，並為他們提供下列的支援：

• 入學方面：教資會資助大學將特別為在體育方面具有非凡成就的準學生推出直接錄取計劃或優化現有入學渠道；及
• 學習支援方面：教資會資助大學將在中央及個人層面為學生運動員提供專屬支援，例如透過聘任學生運動員支援統籌專員，為學生運動員由入學至畢業提供一站式指導及支援。大學亦將增聘個人教學助理，加強對每位學生運動員在學業上的支援。

每所大學將於每學年獲撥款100 萬元作中央支援，並就每名學生運動員獲額外增撥15 萬元作個別支援，撥款金額將以實際正修讀學士學位課程的合資格學生運動員人數而定。

八所教資會資助大學已經/快將為準學生運動員提供直接錄取計劃，有關各所大學的申請資格可參考附件一或瀏覽個別大學的網站。另外，中文大學將於2022年3月9日(星期三)舉辦網上講座解釋有關入學申請(需預先登記)，有關資料請參考附件二。
